Speeding Fines – Do You Really Want Them?
Car manufacturers can now design and build cars that are comfortable and easy to drive, and more importantly the vehicles handle well when you speed, making speeding an easy thing to do. If you are driving along on a motorway, or side road, and the roads are quiet it is easy to speed without noticing. The implications are that you could suffer some penalty points, raising your insurance premium, and by fined too. We’d like to share a few tips to make your life a little easier.
Tip #1 – Focus Focus Focus! Seriously, don’t be distracted and keep your eyes on the road. Avoid common distractions like getting to involved in a conversation with your passenger, or eating your lunch whilst driving. If you need to talk to someone, try talking to yourself!
Tip #2 – Stay Alert – its all to easy to start to snooze and for your head to start nodding. Keep your eyes open, make sure the car isn’t too warm for you, and even open the windows as the fresh air helps many people stay alert.
Tip #3 – Allow Plenty of Time for Travel – Make sure that you allow plenty of time for travel. When you are behind and you need to be somewhere quickly, you are more likely to start speeding, and before you know it you end up with a big fine. Start out a few minutes early for your destination and relax. If you are a minute late it probably won’t be the end of the world. Just leaving about 10 minutes early to account for any delays will make you drive slower and you’ll be able to miss out on the speeding fines.
Tip #4 – Cool, Calm & Collected – don’t drive stressed, or let yourself become stressed. If your emotions run high, then you are likely to be involved in accident. Road rage is a key contributor to stress, so this is best avoided.
Tip #5 – Slowly does it now – Its an obvious fact that the faster you go, the longer your stopping distance. If you actively think about this, then you’ll be able to bring your speed down with out actually thinking about it. With awareness, comes great driving ability.
Tip #6 – Think About the Consequences – Thinking about the consequences of speeding can be helpful as well. Many people simply speed along without thinking about anything else. However, the consequences of speeding can be bad. Not only can you end up with speeding fines, but you could crash your vehicle, or even worse hit someone and harm or kill them. This is a high price to pay for going a bit faster.
Tip #7 – Ignore the Need for Speed – Many people just like the thrill of going fast. If you are going to avoid speeding fines though, you are going to have to ignore the need for speed. If you enjoy speeding, consider racing on a track where it is safe. Don’t take out your longing and excitement for speed out onto the road. It will definitely cost you.
